Meet the elders

Dennis Budkowski

Elder
Dennis has served our Lord Jesus and His church as a campus minister, teacher, care group leader, and administrator. Dennis describes Trinity Baptist Church as a family of believers who: love to worship their Lord and Savior; teach and preach the truths of the historic Christian faith; uphold the Bible as God’s revelation to us; and, love one another and those who have not yet placed their faith in Christ alone. Dennis and his wife Neta have called Marion their home for over forty years and are the parents of Jessica, Emily, and Hillary.

Phil Harbolt

Elder
Phil was born and raised attending Trinity Baptist Church and feels blessed to have a church family that has mentored and helped him grow in his walk with the lord from the cradle to this day. He is thankful for all the bible studies, care groups and sports activities that have helped him grow in his spiritual life and leadership roles. Phil is the husband to Susie and has two adult daughters Megan and Amy.

Todd Petrie

Elder
Todd was born in southeastern Ohio where his Christian journey began after being baptized as a member of the youth group at Vinton Baptist Church in Vinton, OH.  Todd and his wife Wendy have attended Trinity Baptist Church since they moved to Marion in 1994.  As a member of Trinity, Todd has served in various leadership roles and currently is a worship leader for the praise team.  Todd also serves on various community leadership boards including the Marion Area Chamber of Commerce, Marion CAN DO!, and MAWAC.  Todd and Wendy are the proud parents of two children, Brock and Avery.

Dr. Mark Piacentini

Elder
The word of God is amazing in its transformational power, simplicity, and depth. Scripture is absolutely amazing showing us the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Mark loves the simple faith of children and their immense curiosity to understand Christ and the world that they live in. Mark is amazed how Jesus loves his people and shows them his love.

Mark Poling

Elder
Mark grew up going to church and accepted Jesus Christ as his savior and friend at a very young age. He has served Jesus Christ through most of the ministry opportunities to which God has called him; helping others, setting up and cleaning up for church fellowship meals, mixing the sound for Sunday morning worship, filling in as a teacher, and helping with the youth group. No matter where he serves, Mark is grateful that God has taught him and changed him in amazing ways. Mark married Laura in 1986 and has 3 children, Jordan, Blake and Kathryn.

Ed Vaflor

Elder
Ed has been attending Trinity Baptist Church (TBC) since his parents immigrated from the Philippines in 1968.  He was influenced greatly by faithful believers at TBC to recognize his Savior's call on his life and was baptized there in 1978.  Ed has been part of the TBC leadership team for nearly two decades and the Eldership since its inception.  He has also led care groups and taught Sunday School classes.  He is the husband of Amy and father of three adult children, Cassie, Jon, and Christian.

Leadership

Pastors & Staff

Daniel Mccoy

Lead Pastor & Elder

While some kids dream of growing up to be a doctor or an astronaut, ever since the time Daniel was a young child all he have ever wanted to do is be a pastor. It is a task that is truly his life’s calling and has been the central motivating factor of everything in his life up to this point. Beginning at the age of 19, he was given the tremendous privilege of serving God’s people and serving God’s church. Since that time, Daniel has served in various ministerial roles including Youth Pastor, Staff Pastor, Sunday School teacher, Small Group Leader, and Senior Pastor. There is nothing he loves more than ministering to people and building eternal relationships. Starting in 2009, while serving as a youth pastor, Daniel began to realize the tremendous need to better equip himself for the immense task that lay ahead, first pursuing a Bachelors of Arts in Church Ministries, and then a Th. M. from Dallas Theological Seminary. Throughout his studies and ministry he continues to be amazed at the goodness and greatness of the God we serve! He is excited to see what the future holds and what God is going to do at Trinity Baptist Church.

Nick Allen

Youth Director

My name is Nick Allen and I am  the new Youth Director at TBC. I grew up in a small, rural town in southern Ohio called Hillsboro in Highland County.  It was here that I was connected to a strong youth group in my teenage years that eventually led to my salvation and calling into ministry, which is why I am so passionate about youth ministry today. Since then, I have spent the last three years of my life serving in the ministry at a church plant in the inner city of Cincinnati.

Wendy Petrie

Children's Ministries Director

Wendy was born in Gallipolis, Ohio and is a graduate of North Gallia High School and the University of Findlay.  She and her husband, Todd, moved to Marion in 1994.  She has a degree in elementary education.  Wendy taught in Marion City Schools for 19 years.  Wendy has been attending Trinity since 1994.  In September of 2016, she began serving as the children’s education director. Todd and Wendy are the parents of a son, Brock and a daughter, Avery.

Amy Washburn

Family Ministries Director

Amy Washburn has been working with the youth at Trinity Baptist Church since 2011 as a youth leader.  In January of 2016, she was asked to take on the role as Youth Director.  She gladly accepted the call and is thoroughly enjoying the time she spends ministering to the youth of TBC.

Amy is a Marion native and graduated from River Valley.  She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and a Master of Education degree in Middle Childhood Education from The Ohio State University.  She has been a teacher at River Valley Middle School since 2008.

Amy is blessed to be called “Mom” by her wonderful son, Dalton.  He is the reason she does what she does.  She and Dalton share their home with their canine friends, Reagan and Fergie.

Sheryl Simmons

Office Administrator

Sheryl Simmons has been married to Harry Simmons since 1985 and has three children, Amy, Sarah, and Michael. She is a graduate of Taylor University and has lived in Marion all of her life.
